Kitchen Countertop Cost Malaysia 2026: Quartz, Solid Surface, Laminate & More

Countertops are one of the first things visitors notice in a kitchen - and one of the most-replaced items in a renovation. Here is what kitchen countertops cost in Malaysia in 2026, by material.

The kitchen countertop is a daily work surface, a heat barrier, a waterproofing layer, and a design statement all in one. Getting the material choice wrong is expensive to fix. This guide sets out real 2026 pricing for every common countertop material available in Malaysia, based on projects delivered by the team at Sun Synergy Contracts, a CIDB G4-licensed renovation contractor in Petaling Jaya.

Kitchen Countertop Cost by Material

Pricing below is per linear foot of countertop, supply and installation included. A standard Malaysian kitchen with a 10-12 foot run costs roughly 10-12 times the per-foot rate.

MaterialCost per linear footBest for
Laminate (local brand)RM 80 - RM 150Budget kitchens, rental units
Laminate (imported, premium finish)RM 150 - RM 280Mid-range kitchens wanting a clean look
Solid surface (Corian or equivalent)RM 350 - RM 600Seamless, hygienic, repairable
Quartz (engineered stone, local)RM 280 - RM 450Most popular mid-to-premium choice
Quartz (imported - Caesarstone, Silestone)RM 450 - RM 800Premium kitchens
Granite (natural stone)RM 250 - RM 600Natural look, heat resistant
Marble (natural)RM 500 - RM 1,200Luxury; requires sealing and maintenance
Porcelain slab (Dekton, Neolith)RM 600 - RM 1,400Ultra-hard, heat and scratch resistant

A complete countertop replacement for a standard Malaysian kitchen (10 linear feet including a breakfast bar) typically costs:

  • Laminate: RM 1,500 - RM 3,000
  • Quartz (local): RM 3,500 - RM 5,500
  • Solid surface: RM 4,500 - RM 7,500
  • Imported quartz or granite: RM 6,000 - RM 10,000

What the Price Actually Includes

When we quote a countertop, the price covers:

  • Templating (precise measurement of the cut shape, including sink cutout and hob cutout)
  • Material supply and fabrication
  • Edge profile (standard square or eased; bullnose, ogee, or waterfall edge adds RM 20-50 per linear foot)
  • Installation and adhesive
  • Waterproof silicone sealing at the wall and sink junction
  • Removal and disposal of the existing countertop

What it does not include: hacking out existing tiles on the splash area, or any plumbing reconnection after the sink is reinstalled.

Quartz vs Solid Surface: Which Should You Choose?

These are the two most common choices for Malaysian kitchens in the RM 300,000-800,000 home segment.

Quartz looks like stone, is available in hundreds of colours and patterns including marble-look designs, and handles normal heat exposure well. It is not suitable for placing a hot pan directly from the stove - use a trivet. Joints are visible and need to be planned during fabrication.

Solid surface (Corian and its equivalents) has invisible seams, can be sanded and repaired if scratched, and is hygienic because there are no grout lines or joints. It is softer than quartz and more susceptible to scratches from sharp knives, and it cannot take direct heat either. It is the better choice for households with young children or for any countertop that wraps a sink in a single unbroken piece.

Countertop Thickness and Edge Profile

Standard thickness is 20mm for quartz and granite. 30mm slabs are used in premium kitchens and commercial applications - they look more substantial and can cantilever further without support.

Edge profiles add cost but change the look significantly. The most common:

  • Eased (square with a slight chamfer): Standard, included in price
  • Bullnose (fully rounded): RM 20-35 per linear foot extra
  • Waterfall (countertop folds down vertically to the floor): RM 500-1,200 for the full panel, plus substrate

Does Countertop Cost Include the Sink?

No. The countertop price covers the stone and installation only. Undermount sinks (which sit below the countertop surface) need to be supplied separately and re-installed by a plumber when the countertop is replaced. Budget RM 400 - RM 1,200 for a stainless steel or composite undermount sink, plus RM 200 - RM 500 for plumber installation.
